Ukraine Emergency briefing to U.N. on Russia, Black Sea and the Sea of Azov Region!
Ukraine is preparing a lawsuit to the UN international court due to the Russian aggression in Azov and Kerch sea waters, as the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said on air of “Svoboda Slova” on ICTV channel, the President’s press office reported.
“We are preparing a lawsuit to the UN international court due to the aggression action. This file has been placed on record. On the responsibility of the Russian Federation for the aggression against our state,” Poroshenko said.
He stressed that the Ukrainian sailors acted in compliance with the international law and the Russian military committed an attack at our vessels in the neutral waters of the Black Sea.
Earlier, the ECHR obliged Russia to provide information on the captured sailors, yet, the Russian authority never responded to that.
The International Court will consider the attack on Ukrainian sailors as the episode of the aggressive war that Russia wages against Ukraine – not the separate case. Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko added that the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies already prepared a presentation of collected evidence, which confirms the fact of military aggression of the Russian Navy against the Ukrainian ships.
